MHFA Face-to-Face Courses
Course attendance via Skype or Videoconferencing for full face-to-face 2-day Mental Health First Aid® Australia (MHFA™) courses is not permitted. Full face-to-face MHFA courses have been purposely structured to include sequential content, participant exercises and activities that maximise participant learning outcomes and safety at all times. This course format is not suitable for course participant attendance via videoconferencing
Blended Online MHFA Courses
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, MHFA Australia has released a series of Blended Online MHFA Courses for delivery that include a video conferencing component.
This course format includes comprises two components.
Course Component 1 – Self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours)
Course Component 2 – Instructor-led videoconferencing (2 x 2.5-hour sessions)
The accredited Blended Online MHFA Community course comprises two components.
This course format has been structured to enable 100% online delivery with course component 2 being Instructor-led videoconferencing.
This course structure is different from existing MHFA face-to-face courses and additional and appropriate guidance and measures have been incorporated to maximise participant learning outcomes and safety for delivery in this format.
Instructors are required to complete the specified up-skills for available courses before delivering MHFA courses in this format.
Exceptions
Under special circumstances, MHFA Australia may allow participants to attend a Standard or a Youth 2-day face-to-face MHFA course by videoconference. However, this modality of delivery must be used as a last resort only for participants who will otherwise be unable to attend, such as those living in remote areas or hard to reach workplaces.
Special circumstance requests must be submitted by Instructors to MHFA Australia for approval prior to confirming and/or allowing any course participant to attended a face-to-face MHFA course via videoconferencing.
