What do I need to do to maintain my Program Membership?
There are three main steps to maintain your Program Membership each year:
- accept the terms of the Instructor License Agreement and acknowledge this in your Instructor Portal.
- pay your Annual License Instructor Fee before the due date
- hold a current valid Working With Children/Vulnerable People's check (WWCC/WWVP) or an approved state alternative as part of their agreement to provide MHFA training.
If you do not meet these maintenance requirements, your license will lapse, and you will be deactivated as an instructor.
What else do I need to do to maintain my license besides maintain my Program Membership?
Deliver the required number of courses:
- In the year of your ITC, you should aim to deliver at least one full 2-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in that core course. In this first calendar year, you are not liable for the annual license fee.
- For each year following, you must deliver a minimum of two MHFA courses for each core license type you are licensed to deliver.
If you do not meet these maintenance requirements, your license will lapse, and you will be deactivated as an instructor.
What are the requirements for a course to count towards meeting delivery requirements?
For a course to count towards your license delivery requirements:
- it must be created in your Instructor Portal
- it must adhere to course minimum and maximum participant requirements, or have an exemption from MHFA to be outside these requirements
- you must be listed as either the primary facilitator or as the co-facilitator
- the course must be closed ie all participants have been moved from their Enrolled status to Attended or another alternative. Keeping participants as enrolled will keep the course open, thus not counting towards year-end totals. Please make sure you follow up with all of your course participants.
How do different course types count towards meeting course delivery requirements?
Please refer from page 23 onwards in your current Instructor License Agreement for the full breakdown of which courses from each license type contribute to your course delivery totals.
All course variations – 2-day, Blended and Refresher – count as one course towards meeting course delivery requirements. So to meet your 2 courses per core license per calendar year, it can be any combination of 2-day, Blended or Refresher courses. Courses delivered as the Co-Facilitator will also count towards year-end totals.
For example:
2 X 2-day courses
2 X Blended courses
2 X Refresher courses
1 X 2-day and 1 X Blended
1 X 2-day and 1 X Refresher
1 X Blended and 1 X Refresher
