Upon completion of an MFHA course, participants are eligible to complete an assessment, to become an Accredited MHFAider. The assessment is a short, online quiz that includes multiple choice and true/false questions, that can be completed using the MHFA manual.
They will be sent a unique link an after the course ends to the email linked to their personal account. Upon clicking on the link, they will be invited to provide feedback on the MHFA course completed and complete the Accreditation Assessment. Please allow a few days post course completion to contact the Instructor if this haven't been received.
A score of at least 80% to required to pass the assessment. If not passed on the first attempt, a second attempt is opened. A third attempt can be made available, but this needs to be requested in writing to MHFA.
Once passed, you will be awarded an Accreditation Certificate, which you can then download via the MHFAider email preference centre. Accreditation is valid for 3 years from the date of the attended MHFA course.
The benefits of being an Accredited MHFAider are that:

you can demonstrate that you have mental health first aid knowledge and skills

you are eligible to be appointed as a Mental Health First Aid Officer in your workplace.
MHFAiders will receive a reminder a few months before your accreditation expires to let them know when you they due to complete an MHFA Refresher Course. Accreditation can be renewed by completing an MHFA Refresher Course prior to to the accreditation expiry date, which adds a further three years to an accreditation date.
This can only be done once, and the subsequent time a MFHAider wants to stay accredited, they will be required to complete a full-2-day MHFA course again.
