A Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) is a person who has completed a MHFA Course delivered by an Accredited MHFA Instructor. A MHFAider will now have the opportunity to complete an online assessment in order to become an Accredited MHFAider for 3 years.
If they pass the assessment, they will be issued an online PDF Certificate of Accreditation by MHFA Australia. If they do not pass the assessment, they will be issued an online PDF Certificate of Completion.
There is no additional fee attached to taking the online Accreditation Assessment or receiving the eCertificate, but they do need to have an email address.
For MHFAiders who pass the assessment, MHFA Australia will send them a few reminders 6 months then 3 months prior to the expiry of their 3-year Accreditation Period. This email will invite them to complete a Refresher Accreditation MHFA Course to keep their accreditation valid for another 3 years. After those 6 years, they will need to attend a full MHFA course again.
